Estimation of cubic capacity

It is the calculation of earth movement to be required for the execution of a project. The material that is extracted in an excavation is called clearance, whereas the earth that is accumulated to reach the height of the gradient is called an embankment. This calculation is made to obtain an estimate of the volume of earth to move, the machinery that has to be used, the cost and the time needed. For linear works the method of cross-sectional profiles is used, and for non-linear works, orthogonal squares or grids and line levels are employed.
